 We didn't have social media back in the day, so we took notes of our observations in logbooks, then took them to club meetings to share with other members of the club.

The image below shows me and Mike Harkey and Joe Manacci at the beach on the south shore of Lake Erie in Lorain, Ohio with my Meade 8 inch f/7.5 Newtonian.
This was our Go To place for Northern Lights and for northerly comets. There were no lights at all to our north on nights where seeing & transparency were good so we went there a lot.
